One of the most desirable villages in Istria, Kaštelir lies on a south-facing hillside, just north of Porec and looks over the coastal plain to the sea. It is a ten minute drive to the seaside beaches in either Porec (to the south) or Vabriga (to the west).

Kaštelir is a conglomoration of several smaller villages, including Kovaci and Brnobici, which are linked together by quiet, tree-lined lanes, ideal for biking or walking along.

This quiet, traditional village, possesses numerous restaurants – there are five in easy walking distance from both Kovaci and Brnobici – as well as several others. It also has various shops and award winning wine and olive oil producers.

Near by

To the south, historic Porec with numerous beaches, is only 10 minutes drive away. Closer by to the west, it is only a five minute drive to the pretty town of Tar with its seaside complex at Lanterna just beyond. Other coastal towns such as Rovinj and Vrsar are an easy drive away, as are a whole host of beautiful inland hill-top towns and villages.  In fact there is enough to see and do in Istria to keep you busy for weeks.

In the area are a wide range of activities, including horse-riding, karting, paint-balling and paragliding, as well as all the usual seaside activites (boat hire,  boat trips, banana boat etc).

Istria’s great for bike riding and the area round Kaštelir has lots of quiet lanes. Bike hire can be arranged before you come (just let me know) and bikes can be delivered to the property for you, or there are plenty of places for bike hire in Porec.
